What
does “S” stand for?
Primarily, S stands for Sovereign as in its founding company name,
Sovereign New Media Group.
Why
is the S | NETWORKS name pluralized?
Our flagship S | NETWORKS delivers quality programming in a revolutionary
and exciting new way. On
S | NETWORKS, various genres of programming are shown on our single,
linear digital network within sub-channel modules called Micro-channels™.
Each Micro-Channel™ is named to signify the individual genre
of the multiple niches that we cater to. These Micro-channels™
appear collectively as programming within our linear flagship digital
television network or individually through alternative distribution
methods. Therein
S | NETWORKS is actually comprised of several networks hence the
plurality of our name.
Why
can’t I see S | NETWORKS on my cable/satellite TV?
If you have cable or DBS (Direct Broadcast Satellite) television
service but cannot find S | NETWORKS listed in your line-up of available
channels, then most likely your service provider has not launched
S | NETWORKS.
Your
voice is important! To get the new S | NETWORKS channel, contact
your cable company and make them aware that you would like to have
S | NETWORKS added to your programming line-up or simply click here
and we’ll let them know for you.
With
all of the channels available my cable company offers hardly any
ethnic programming or new channels, why?
In the 1990s, cable and satellite companies desperately needed new
networks to fill slots for new digital programming package offerings,
which translated into growth for their businesses, such is not case
these. As cable and satellite companies have shifted their focus,
today new channels that enter the market place find themselves competing
for channel positions against the likes of the giant media companies
who own multiple cable networks that benefit from longstanding relationships
with cable operators. This common occurrence suppresses the opportunity
for most start-up and independent ethnic channel offerings. Nevertheless,
S | NETWORKS is on the air, readily available to cable companies
throughout all of North America and the Caribbean.
If
your cable or satellite provider has not launched S | NETWORKS we
invite you to disabuse them of their aversion. Contact your cable
company and make them aware that you would like to have S | NETWORKS
added to your programming line-up or simply click here and we’ll
let them know for you. Ultimately, you are the customer and your
opinion counts.
When
did the S | NETWORKS channel begin broadcasting?
S | NETWORKS began limited broadcasting in May of 2002 and launched
24/7 in June of 2003 in conjunction with the National Cable Television
Association’s National Show. More...
